Purse-Suit Designs...what is behind the name.

Several people have asked me how I came up with the name for Purse-Suit designs. It is a simple story. I was wrestling with the idea of a name for my handbags and so I asked another family member for their opinion. Keep in mind that I am the only female in my family. I was blessed with four beautiful sons and four even more beautiful grandsons...what are the odds. I did finally get a step granddaughter...if we can't make them ourselves; we will bring them in from the outside :) Anyway, I digress. Being the only female in my family forces me to ask the men in my family for opinions that would be better suited for a female. But hey, you do what you have to do when you have to do it. So I asked one of the many male gendered people in my home..."What do you think I should call the purse business. He looked up from the hunting/fishing program that I was so rudely interrupting and said "Pursuit". Temporarily forgetting that men do not multi task well, I trusted his answer. I though about it and came to the conclusion that it worked. Pursuit of God, pursuit of happiness, pursuit of many things all came to mind. So I gave it a little word play...Purse-Suit and came up with Purse-Suit Designs. Not until about a year later did I have an eye opener. I walked in to the family room to the same person watching the same show and the announcer came on and welcomed everyone to the "Pursuit hunting program". I could have spit nails. I honestly thought that careful consideration had been given to the suggestion, when in reality it was the first thing that popped into his head while watching the show. Isn't it funny how God works. The name that was created as a thoughtless action turned out to be the perfect name for a purse business pursuing it's place in the world. Man may decide his foot steps; but God always directs his path!

nature's inspiration

I went for a walk this morning down at the Ha Ha Tonka state park. Not to be confused with Tonka Drive (NO HA HA); sorry inside joke. As I was walking along I almost walked past a bull frog camouflaged in his own natural surroundings. He was very patient with me as I took a million pictures of him. Of course as with any photography, only one turned out to be a jaw dropping beautiful picture. I sat and looked at the photo when I got home and thought to myself about how beautiful the colors in that natural setting were. Yay God! He never ceases to amaze me. I am trying to figure out a way to bring those beautiful colors into a designer handbag by Purse-Suit Designs. The Browns and Greens in shades all the way from the very dark to the very bright all in one purse. I am so glad that I serve a God who has a painter's pallet larger than anything I could ever come up with.

Optimizing the web site

I just spent two days optimizing my web site. I have taken a class on how to create a web presence. It was very interesting. I have worked on meta tags, Photo descriptions, the photos, etc. I have submitted my site to Google, Yahoo, and Bing. It was much more time consuming than I could have ever imagined. I am now going to make a video for youtube. I would appreciate it if people would try searching for my sight through these places to see how accessible my web site is. Give me feedback. It is always appreciated.

Be Blessed

New Day

It's a new day. Purse-Suit Designs web site is up and running again. I am so grateful to all of my friends, families, and followers who have stood by me while I have regrouped and reformed my purse business. I have lots of new ideas and patterns coming your way. I am also planning on traveling the central United States to do Vendor's booths at select fairs, rodeos, and craft shows. In all, a lot of fun filled, exciting updates coming your way. Thank you again for all the fantastic support I have gotten from everyone in my life in one form or another.

Blessings

Wallets

The day after Christmas and all is calm. I am itching to take down the tree, but I have been told that I am behaving like a Grinch. Oh well, one more week.
Any way, I have come up with a new product line. It seems like I always come up with something new around the holidays. I think it is because I am desperate for something to give as gifts that isn't the same thing that all the girls and kids got last year.
2009 it was teddy bears, which I did make one for my new grand baby this year.
2010 it is wallets. They turned out very well if I do say so myself.

There is an outside pocket, inside pocket, and a place for your check book. I am selling them at a retail price of $15.00. They are so fun to make in all the bright cheerful colors, but for those of you with a more basic taste, I can do that as well.

Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!

I appreciate each and every one of my customers and friends (and usually my customers become my friends) and thank you for your support this past year. I haven't been as faithful to the business as I wanted to be because of certain family obligations, but hopefully that will change with 2011!

Top 5

My top 5 favorites for the year of 2010...? I was going to do the top 10, but that seemed like a lot of work. Let's see...
1) This is a late entry, as made obvious by the Christmas tree, but I love the new addition of stenciling on my bags. You will probably see a lot more of this in the near future.

2) This one I can not take credit for. My very artistic cousin came up with the fabrics. It turned out soooo cool. I also like it because it stepped up my handles. I still do the old style handles for the studio line, but now I do the canvas handles for the signature line.

3) This is another one that I can not take credit for. A dear friend called and asked if I could make the round about a little bit larger and in lime green. I love the look.

4) This is one of my inspirational line purses that I created to sell in our church's Bible book store. I created an entire line of purses with inspirational wording and scripture.

5) Last but not least...The Diva also made specifically for my inspirational line.

That is it for my top 5 favorites for the year 2010. Thanks for being a part of the journey
Blessings

Stenciling

I tried something new today. I stenciled a pattern onto my fabric before I put the purse together. Let me know what you think. I could use the input. I am a day behind on my sewing. I picked my mother up from the hospital today and thus...less sew time. But all in all, my mother comes first. I love her and pray for her healing. In case I haven't said it lately...I hate cancer. Hate is a very strong emotion and I refuse to use the word lightly, but, in this case it is very appropriate and I will say it again...I hate cancer.
